Using Make Mobile

Overview: The following tutorial explains how to download an image to your mobile device using our Make Mobile service.

Requirements: Both Photobucket account holders and casual viewers (those without a Photobucket account) can access Make Mobile. In order for this process to be successful, though, you must be accessing Photobucket from the U.S., have a mobile device that is internet/WAP enabled with SMS, be using one of the Make Mobile supported carriers (Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon), and own a phone/device that is supported by Make Mobile (click the 'Send to mobile' icon in your account to see the supported device list for your particular carrier).

Steps to Take:
  1. Open the Photobucket site at http://www.photobucket.com

Enter your username and password at the top of the page, then click the log in button to log into your Photobucket account. Find an image that you would like to send to your mobile device.

  2. Click the thumbnail for the image you want to send to your device.

Note: If you are using Photobucket 'Search' or 'find stuff to locate an image, you can also click the Send to mobile button on the image's full-view page.

  3. Click the Send to mobile button that is dircectly above the image on the full-view image page.
  4. Select your country from the drop down-menu.

Note: Currently, this service is only available in the U.S.

  5. Select your device manufacturer.
  6. Select your phone model.
  7. Click the Next button.
  8. Please take a few moments to read the instructions for creating and sending an image to your mobile device.
  9. After you have finished editing your image, click the Send button to continue.
  10. Enter your phone number into the field.
  11. Select your carrier.
  12. Please take a few moments to read the 'IMPORTANT' information displayed here.

Note: Verizon is charged only when the image has been successfully downloaded to your device.

  13. Click the Send button to continue using this service, and to receive further downloading instructions on your mobile device. To opt-out of having the image sent to your device, click the Cancel button.
  14. A box will pop up on your computer that states that you will receive a message on your cell phone from number '51010,' and that you will be charged $0.99 on your cell phone bill for this download. To proceed at this time, click OK, or Cancel to stop the Make Mobile process.
  15. Note: The following steps apply only to AT&T and T-Mobile carriers. Please see the instructions at the end of this tutorial for Sprint and Verizon.

You will receive a message on your phone. Depending on your phone model, this may be a text message, browser message, or a service message from number '51010.' This message includes a link that you can use to go to a WAP screen in your phone (via the phone's internet connection).

  16. Reading through this message, you will have several file type options to download the image to your phone. The default format is the best option and is based on your phone manufacturer's specifications.
  17. If, for some reason, you are having trouble with the default format, try choosing one of the other options that is supported by your phone.
  18. Locate a folder on your phone where you would like to save the image.
  19. Rename the file before it is saved and select OK>/b>.
  20. Select Yes when you are presented with the option to open your file now. By selecting 'Yes' you can verify that the image download was successful.
  21. You will receive a text message from number 51010 with the message, 'Your download was completed successfully!' You can now set your phone preferences to display this image as your wallpaper!

Note: You may need to consult your device user’s manual for instructions on how to select the new images as your wallpaper.
