Creating a Scrapbook

Overview: The following tutorial explains how to create digital scrapbooks in your Photobucket account. Photobucket is pleased to announce the addition of online scrapbooking, powered by Scrapblog, the leading service for creating and sharing scrapbooks online.

You can drag-and-drop photos directly from your Photobucket albums into Scrapblog’s web-based application where they can be cropped, resized and moved to customize the chosen layout. Pages can then be personalized with thousands of creative elements including backgrounds, stickers, text, decorative frames and more. No software downloads are required and the finished scrapbooks are saved into your Photobucket album.

Requirements: You must be a Photobucket account holder and have Flash 8.0 or above installed on your computer. It will be necessary to have pop-ups unblocked, or to temporarily allow them in order to use this feature.

Steps to Take:
  1. Open the Photobucket site at http://www.photobucket.com

Enter your username and password at the top of the page, then click the log in button to log into your Photobucket account.

Navigate to the album or sub-album in which you want to create your scrapbook.

  2. Select the scrapbooks button from the menu at the top of your album.
  3. The scrapbook application by Scrapblog will appear in a new pop-up window on your computer screen. If your web browser currently has pop-ups blocked, you can choose to allow them, or use the 'Click here' to create a scrapbook button on the Scrapblog landing page to launch the application.

Choose a theme that you would like to start with for your scrapbook. You can scroll through all of the options by using the pagination links below the previews.

  4. After you have chosen a theme to view, you will be able click through all of the pages associated with that particular theme. To start editing and adding images to your scrapbook, click the 'Select Theme' button.
  5. A larger preview of the chosen scrapbook theme will appear in the middle of your page, and any subsequent pages of the theme will appear as thumbnails on the bottom of your screen.

On the left side of the screen you will see a 'Photos' tab where you can view a preview of images that have been uploaded into your album. If you would like to use additional images from within your account, click on the 'Get Photos' button inside of this tab.

  6. You will also have access to several other tabs that contain Stickers, Backgrounds, Text & Balloons, Shapes and Frames. All of the assets (shapes, stickers, backgrounds, etc) that are currently contained in your theme are accessible here in case you want to add more to an existing page, or start from scratch to fully customize your theme!
  7. Simply drag your images from the 'Photos' tab onto your theme pages to incorporate your content in your scrapbook. You will notice that you can click on the various elements on the page and move them around, change their size, delete them, and even edit text fields where applicable.

Note: Currently, only images can be incorporated into your scrapbook at this time.

  8. On the top right of the screen you will have access to additional customization controls and properties. These controls and properties will differ depending on which type of element is presently selected. In other words, you will have different options if you have an image selected instead of a sticker.
  9. After you have completed your masterpiece, click on the 'Save' button at the top of the screen.
  10. Give your scrapbook a title, agree to the 'terms of use,' and click the 'Save' button when you are ready to publish your creation.

Note: Publishing your scrapbook may take some time depending on how many images and elements were added to it, how many total pages your scrapbook is, and other factors such as your internet connection speed. Please be patient!

  11. The scrapbook file will be created as a slideshow within the album that you had originally selected the 'scrapbooks' option in. You will also notice that a new sub-album gets generated that contains each individual element within your scrapbook. Please note that if you rename, move, or delete the individual files within the sub-albums appended with '-Scrapblog,' you may break the links to the slideshow that was created.
  12. You can easily make modifications and adjustments to your original scrapbook by clicking the 'Edit Original Scrapbook' button that is located on the full view page for your slideshow file.
