Changing Your Album's Privacy Settings
Overview: The following tutorial explains how to change the permissions on any album in your Photobucket account. You can set each album in your account as public or private, if your main album is public. You can set up a guest password to give others access to your private albums.
Requirements: You must be a Photobucket account holder and have created sub-albums in your account. See the Creating a Sub-album tutorial for details.
Steps to Take:
- Open the Photobucket site at http://www.photobucket.com
Enter your username and password at the top of the page, then click the log in button to log into your Photobucket account.
- Click edit at the top right in the Albums panel.
A page displays that shows the album from which you clicked the edit link, sub-albums of that album, and the permission level of each.

- Click the permission level (public or private) beside any album. A pop-up displays.
Important! You must set your main album to "Public" to change the permissions of individual sub-albums. - Choose the option you want.
- If your album is set to public, click the private | change guest password link to change the status of your album and set an optional guest password.
- If your album is set to private, click the public link to make its contents accessible to everyone. When an album is set to Public, anyone can view your content via a URL or by using the Photobucket search/find stuff feature.
A pop-up displays with the message that all content and sub-albums within the particular album will inherit the permissions you are about to set.

- You can create or change a guest password from the pop-up, if you chose private | change password. If you do not wish to have guest access for the album, leave this blank.
Note: Passwords must be at least 6 characters long. They can only contain the characters a-z, A-Z, 0-9, -, _, cannot contain spaces, and cannot start with a zero.
- Click Save. A message displays to indicate that your permission change was successful.
- You can also change your root level (entire album Public or Private) permissions and your guest password from your Photobucket account options Album Settings section.
