Adding Tags to Images

Overview: The following tutorial provides the main locations on Photobucket where you can add tags; text that uniquely identifies an image or section of an image. Each tag can be up to 50 characters in length, and up to 20 tags can be added to an individual image. Tags are only available for image files.

Tagging gives you the ability to share tagged and linked images across social networks and the Web. When tagged images are displayed on Photobucket, embedded onto other sites or shared by email, viewers of those images can see the tags, click on links, and also find more images with the same tags on Photobucket.

Requirements: You must be a Photobucket account holder and be using a web browser that supports JavaScript and/or a web browser that has JavaScript enabled.

Steps to Take:
  1. Open the Photobucket site at http://www.photobucket.com

Enter your username and password at the top of the page, then click the log in button to log into your Photobucket account.

  2. Select albums & upload from the main menu.
  3. Add tags.

After Upload: Add tags to your images after you upload them.

Note: Click advanced tagging to add a tag to a specific part of the image.

    On your Album pages:

    • Select the albums & upload option in the secondary menu, then select and click add tags.
    • Click the Tag your friends button in the Tags panel on the left.
    • Select one or multiple images, and then click the Tag Selected button at the bottom of the page.

On the Full-view page: Click the Click to add tags link below your image.

Note: If your image already has tags, an edit link displays beside the tag(s).
