Creating a Meez Avatar

Overview: The following tutorial is a step by step guide on how to create a Meez avatar inside of your Photobucket account. Photobucket has partnered with Meez to enable you to create, customize and share 3D avatars in the same manner that you can share your images, videos, and remixes.

Requirements: You must be a Photobucket account holder. Meez is compatible with IE 6 and higher, Firefox 1 and higher, Netscape 7.2 and higher, AOL 6 and higher on the PC. If you are running 10.3.x try Safari 1.3.2, and if you're running 10.4.x try Safari 2.0. Currently, Meez does not support Mac+Firefox. You must have Java v1.3.1 or greater on your computer, and it is recommended that you use a broadband internet connection. For a full list of Meez technical requirements please click here

Steps to Take:
  1. Log into your Photobucket account at http://www.photobucket.com
  2. From the navigation bar at the top of your album, select the "create avatar" tab.

Note: The avatar will always be saved into the root album of your Photobucket account.

  3. Click on the pink "Get Started" button.
  4. Select which gender you would like to create your avatar as.
  5. You may be prompted to install the latest version of Java on your computer. Simply click on the 'Get Java Software' button to initialize this process.

Note: Depending on which browser you are using, you may also see a browser pop-up, or warning, noting that you are about to download a plugin. Please make sure you allow your browser to install this plugin. You should also restart your browser so that the changes will take effect.

  6. At the top right of the Meez application, you will be able to choose which aspect of your avatar you would like to customize. Currently, you can change the theme and look of your avatar, add clothes and accessories, add an animation, and change the background for your avatar.
  7. Don't forget to scroll through the categories for additional levels of customization!
  8. To add features to your avatar, simply click on a thumbnail image from the previews on the right.

Note: While most Meez items are free, there are premium items that are marked by a pink coin that costs money to add.

  9. On the top left of the Meez application, you can see an interactive preview of your avatar. Click on the "Undo Last Item" button to undo the last item that you added.

Note: You can even zoom, scroll, and rotate within the preview window in order to get a better look at your avatar!

  10. Click on the "Remove Items" button to be able to remove any item that you currently have added to your avatar.
  11. After you have customized your Meez, and are satisfied with your avatar, click on the "Save" button.
  12. Create a title for your Meez and then click on the "Send My Meez To Photobucket" button.
  13. A message will pop up notifying you that your Meez avatar is being uploaded into your Photobucket account. This may take a few moments.
  14. Your avatar is now available in your Photobucket account for sharing and linking around the web!

Note: Meez will save seven different sizes of the avatar in your account. Two of these will be animated, and the other five will be still images of various sizes.
