Changing the Album Settings in Your Account

Overview: The following tutorial explains how to change the Album Settings in your Photobucket account.

Requirements: You must be a Photobucket account holder.

Steps to Take:
  1. Open the Photobucket site at http://www.photobucket.com

Enter your username and password at the top of the page, then click the log in button to log into your Photobucket account.

  2. Select account options at the top right corner of the page.
  3. Locate the Album Settings section of your account options.

    You can:

    • Set your account to Private: Change the My album is drop-down to Private if you do not want your media available via Photobucket Search.
    • Enter a Guest Password: Allow guests access to your private account. Guests with a guest password have read-only access to anyone you wish to give this out to. The recipient of your Guest Password cannot upload or edit your content, just view it.
    • Choose the thumbnails per page: Change the number of thumbnails per page that display in your album.
    • Sort your NEW albums: Choose a sort order for content in your newly created albums. Click Sort all existing albums this way too if you want to apply the sort to your existing albums. If you choose this option, any manual organization you did in the Organize view is overwritten.
    • Have images link back to album: If you do not want people to view your Public album through embedded images that are clicked off site, do not select this option. Anyone who clicks on your images opens the Photobucket homepage. If you leave this option selected, anyone clicking on your embedded images in a Public account will be taken back into your album. See Organizing Your Media.
    • Automatically rotate your images: Set your images to automatically rotate when you upload them to Photobucket, if they require rotation. Most cameras record the orientation of the photos they take. When you upload, this recorded data is also sent, and is what Photobucket uses to determine if images need rotation.
    • Allow others to copy my media: When this option is selected:
      • The download and copy to my album options display on the full-size view for images. As well, users can right-click the image and copy it.
      • The copy to my album option displays on the full-size view for videos.
If you do not want people to easily copy your images and videos, uncheck this option.
  4. Click Link options to toggle the codes that display below the thumbnail images in your album pages.

Choose a display option for Show links in my album, and click Save when you are done.

    • Always - Displays links below the thumbnails in your album all the time.
    • Only on mouseover - Displays links only when you mouse over the thumbnails in your album.
  5. Click Save at the top or bottom of the Account Options page or your changes are discarded.
