Resizing Images

Overview: The following tutorial is a step by step guide on how to resize an image that has been uploaded into your Photobucket account. Photobucket is proud to announce an integration with FotoFlexer.com in order to provide our users with a robust image editing tool!

Requirements: You must be a Photobucket account holder and have content currently uploaded into your account.

Note: Currently, this functionality only works for images.

The image editor is driven by javascript and flash technologies. If you are having difficulties accessing the image editor, please refer to some trouble-shooting tips that can be found in our FAQ here.

Steps to Take:
  1. Log into your Photobucket account at http://www.photobucket.com
  2. From the navigation bar at the top of your album, select the "albums & upload" tab."
  3. Click on the thumbnail, or the "edit" link for the image that you would like to resize.

Note: By clicking on the thumbnail of the image, you can access the basic resize options, however, if you click on the "edit" link, you'll be taken into the image editor for advanced options.

  4. Click on the "resize" button to do a basic resize of the image in your Photobucket account.

Click on the "edit image" button for more advanced controls. From the list of options on the drop down menu select "resize".

  5. Once inside the image editor, you have several options for resizing your file can be found in the "Basic" tab. You can simply select a preset size from the drop down menu, use the width/height slider bars or even type in the size of your choice. For best results, please leave the "Keep Proportions" checkbox selected at all times so your image isn't distorted with unwanted results. Simply click on the "apply" button if you wish to continue editing your file!

WARNING! Selecting a size LARGER than the original pixel dimensions for your image may cause pixelation, fuzzyness, and distortion within your file. This is not advised.

  6. When you are ready to save your changes and go back into your Photobucket account, click on the "Save" button that is below the preview for your image.
  7. You will have the option to either "Overwrite existing image" or "Save a copy." Overwriting the existing image will save the changes to the original file in your album, essentially replacing it with the new one. Saving a copy of your image will create a new image in your account with the modifications that you have made to the file. This option is strongly recommended if you wish to keep your original in tact.

After making this selection, your file will be saved and you will be taken back into your Photobucket account.
